Azerbaijan and Mauritania sign preliminary cooperation agreement â€“ <font color=red> PHOTO </font>

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova â€“ APA. On Thursday, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania Mrs. Naha Mint Mouknass. According to APA, the ministers discussed the prospects of mutual cooperation between the two countries. Minister Garayev spoke about the development of Azerbaijan in all spheres and informed the guest about the occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia. He said a number of cultural and historic monuments of Azerbaijan were destroyed in the occupied lands and it was not only damage on Azerbaijanâ€™s culture, but on the culture of whole Islamic world. The minister added that Azerbaijan and Mauritania had no enough cooperation as the two Muslim countries. â€œIt needs to make bilateral step to reach a high-level cooperation. Azerbaijan is interested in this cooperationâ€.

Mrs. Mouknass, who visited Azerbaijan for the first time, emphasized the rapid development in Azerbaijan and said her country was interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in a number of fields, including culture. The ministers signed preliminary document for the development of cooperation, which includes organizing the mutual days of culture, exhibitions, as well as cooperation in the field of museum and folklore.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania Mrs. Naha Mint Mouknass will end her visit to Azerbaijan on April 9.
