The United States has imposed sanctions on three representatives of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), the Ministry of Construction, and eight legal entities allegedly linked to the Cuban government, it was announced in a statement released by the State Department press service, APA reports.
The document lays out the theory that members of ICAP, already subject to U.S. restrictions, pose a security threat to the United States. Furthermore, the sanctions list includes the Cuban Ministry of Construction and eight companies allegedly associated with the Cuban government.
In addition, the United States, under the pretext of combating drug trafficking, imposed sanctions on eight Ecuadorian citizens and seven companies based there.
Inclusion on the sanctions list means freezing assets in the United States and prohibiting American citizens and companies from doing business with those listed.
