Panel discussion held in Baku on AIDA’s 15th anniversary - PHOTO

A panel discussion on “Partnership for Sustainable Development and Effective Humanitarian Assistance” was held in Baku as part of a conference titled “Promoting Global Solidarity through Cooperation for Humanitarian Support and Development,” dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA), APA reports.

Speaking at the panel, Head of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) Abdullah Eren stated that humanitarian assistance, development cooperation and peacebuilding can no longer be considered as separate areas.

He noted that TİKA plans to implement joint projects with the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) in a number of African countries.

Somalia's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Abdinur Dahir Fidow stated that partnerships are not only a means of mobilizing additional resources, but also an important platform for combining knowledge, technology, finance and local expertise.

He emphasized that international cooperation should shift from short-term responses to crises to risk reduction, from providing assistance to strengthening local capacity and building long-term partnerships.

Korea's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kang Kymgu emphasized that amid declining global development financing, directing official development assistance (ODA) toward greater effectiveness and tangible results, as well as responding to global challenges such as climate change, healthcare and food security, are among the key priorities.

As part of the conference, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) and Türkiye's Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).
