As of August 1, 2026, the number of salaried employees in Azerbaijan amounted to 1,781.1 thousand people, of whom 836.9 thousand worked in the public sector and 944.2 thousand in the non-state sector, the State Statistical Committee told APA-Economics.
Of the salaried employees, 18.9% were employed in trade and repair of motor vehicles, 17.5% in education, 13.9% in industry, 8.6% in healthcare and social services, 6.8% in construction, 6.1% in public administration and defence and social security, 4.4% in transportation and storage, 3.9% in professional, scientific and technical activities, 2.5% in financial and insurance activities, 2.3% in agriculture, forestry and fishing, and 15.1% in other sectors of the economy.
In January-July 2026, the average monthly nominal salary of salaried employees in the country increased by 7.2% compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, reaching AZN 1,176.7.
