The reconstruction process can turn into long-term territorial transformation, Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev said at an event titled "From Commitments to Implementation: Healthy and Resilient Cities through Climate-Urban Partnerships," held in Baku as part of the Fourth Climate Week of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, APA reports.
He said the main goal of climate action should be to translate global commitments into concrete actions and practical solutions at the local level: "An integrated approach is particularly important in the post-crisis period. The reconstruction process can turn into long-term territorial transformation. This process combines spatial planning, housing provision, infrastructure, public services, and economic development, while incorporating resilience and sustainability from the very beginning. As we move toward COP31, one of the main goals is to strengthen the link between global commitments and action at the local level. This can be achieved through integrated planning, multilevel governance, financing, and partnerships."
Anar Guliyev noted that the outcome of the dialogue should be measured not only by the number of commitments identified, but also by the partnerships that will be established, investments that will be made, and practical solutions that will be developed: "Translating climate ambitions into concrete action at the city level is of particular importance."
