Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has approved a contribution agreement between the government of Azerbaijan and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), APA reports.
The agreement covers the implementation of the project titled “Towards Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive Human Settlements in the East Zangezur Economic Region of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Integrated Territorial Planning for Sustainable Urban Development”.
President Aliyev signed a decree approving the agreement.
Once the agreement enters into force, Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of its provisions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will notify the UN-Habitat Secretariat that the domestic procedures required for the agreement to enter into force have been completed.
The contribution agreement was signed in New York on 15 July 2026.
