Two Azerbaijani citizens have been killed and two others injured after a foreign cargo ship was hit by drone attacks in the Black Sea, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry said, APA reports.
The foreign cargo vessel, named TEDY, was attacked on 9 September. Azerbaijani citizens were among its crew.
Aslan Aliyev and Asim Gasimov were killed in the attack, while Imran Novruzov and Rauf Aliyev were injured, according to information received by the ministry.
The injured crew members have been taken to a hospital in Chornomorsk, Ukraine, for treatment.
Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry said it was coordinating with the country's diplomatic missions and the relevant authorities of other countries over the incident.
Arrangements are being made to return the injured citizens to Azerbaijan following medical examinations and treatment and to provide them with necessary consular assistance. Procedures are also under way concerning the repatriation of the bodies of those killed.
The ministry expressed condolences to the families and relatives of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
It also renewed its call for Azerbaijani citizens to avoid travelling to or working in areas where military operations are continuing or where the security situation remains unstable.
The ministry also urged citizens to avoid working on transport routes, including aboard ships, operating through such areas.
