Azerbaijan unveils solar and lunar eclipse calendar for next year

The Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory of Azerbaijan has announced lunar and solar eclipse calendar for 2024, the observatory told APA.

A total of four eclipses, two solar and two lunar eclipses will occur in 2024.

The 1st lunar eclipse of 2024 will occur on March 25. It will start at 08:53 in Baku time and end at 13:32. As the Moon will be below the horizon during the eclipse, the eclipse will not be observed from Azerbaijan.

A partial lunar eclipse will occur on September 18. A part of the Moon goes into total shadow during the partial lunar eclipse. The eclipse will be observed in Europe, big part of Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, Antarctica. The eclipse, will start at 04:41 and end at 08:47. It will be possible to watch the beginning of the eclipse from Azerbaijan.

1st solar eclipse of 2024 will be recorded on April 8. This will be full solar eclipse. The solar eclipse will overall cover the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, Western Europe, North and South America, and the Arctic. The eclipse will begin at 19:42 in Baku time and end at 00:52. Solar eclipse will not be observed in Azerbaijan.

The last eclipse will occur on October 2. This will be an annular solar eclipse. This eclipse will mainly cover South America, southern part of North America, the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, and Antarctica. It will be possible to observe the annular eclipse from Chile and Argentina, This eclipse will start at 19:42 Baku time and end at 01:47. The eclipse will not be observed from Azerbaijan.
