According to the FMSA, it only controls whether or not the banks obey 4% margin set by the Central Bank: “That’s the banks may buy the dollar at 4% lower price and sell them at 4% higher price. The banks cannot set higher or lower prices than this margin”.
The FMSA confirmed that currently the demand for dollar is more than supply: “We were expecting this because the economic activity increases as the summer ends and the autumns starts”.
As for selling and buying dollar in the black market, the FMSa said this is illegal activity: “If we have such information, we inform the law-enforcement agencies. We only control the institutions to which we have granted licence. We seriously control them and we have control mechanisms”.
