Azerbaijan got 37% rise in diesel fuel over past five years

Baku. Nijhat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan has achieved a 37% rise in diesel fuel production over the past five years from 2003, 18.3% of the rise was contributed by the modernization of refining method.
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) said diesel fuel accounts for 54% of engine fuels produced at the oil refineries.
Diesel purification plant upgraded in 2004 allowed producing more pure and higher-quality diesel fuel.
After the improvements in refining technology, Azeri diesel fuel is about to meet Euro-2 and Euro-3 standards.
Over the past 5 years, 56-67% of the produced diesel fuel was exported abroad. Alone in 2007, diesel oil was exported to France, Italy, Romania, Greece, Cyprus, Albania, Bulgaria, Malta, Turkey, Ukraine, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Georgia and other countries.
