The total number of casualties stemming from the August 10th earthquake in Colombia has risen significantly compared to previous estimates, announced Abelardo De La Espriella, the country's president, on Saturday, APA reports.
"The human toll is painful: 329 deceased, 4,600 injured, and 247 missing. In total, 154,014 families and 314,751 people affected," wrote De La Esprella in reference to Colombia's biggest natural disaster in decades. "Additionally, we have 10 active fires, nine of them in Tolima. I have ordered an immediate verification of the circumstances of their reactivation and to determine if there was criminal intervention," he added.
