Azerbaijan and Türkiye plan to take their successful cooperation established in the oil and gas sector to a new stage through electricity and interconnection projects, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said in his speech on the outcomes of the 5th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the development of digitalization and artificial intelligence will create demand for large volumes of electricity in the future. In this regard, the sides are discussing not only electricity generation but also the creation of new electricity interconnections between countries.
Parviz Shahbazov mentioned the Nakhchivan-Türkiye, Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye-Bulgaria, as well as electricity interconnection projects across the Black Sea.
The minister emphasized that these projects will make it possible to transmit electricity, including renewable energy, over long distances and to markets of interest.
Parviz Shahbazov also added that Azerbaijan is simultaneously working on relevant projects with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the Central Asian direction, and all these processes are being discussed based on a unified approach within the framework of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum.
