US President Donald Trump has said the war with Iran could end before November’s congressional elections, although he expects the conflict to conclude immediately after the vote, APA reports.
Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Trump said he believed the war would be over shortly after the US midterm elections.
“It should end right after the election. Maybe it will end before the election, but I think it will happen right after the election,” Trump said.
Trump has repeatedly linked the possible timing of the end of the conflict to the midterm vote. In the same Fox News interview, he said he did not regret going to war with Iran and would make the same decision again.
The US midterm elections are scheduled for 3 November. All 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 33 of the Senate’s 100 seats are due to be contested.
