A regional meeting involving countries located along the Persian Gulf coast is planned to be held, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said, APA’s Tehran bureau reports.

According to Baghaei, the meeting will be held in Oman on Monday with the participation of Iran, Iraq and other countries located along the Persian Gulf coast.

He expressed hope that the event would contribute to developing mutual understanding among the countries of the region and strengthening common regional security.

Baghaei said that, along with other regional issues, the results of Iran-Oman talks on the Strait of Hormuz would also be discussed at the meeting.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also recalled the agreement reached between Iran and Oman on temporary shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz, noting that the Islamic Republic of Iran considers it its obligation to make efforts to ensure the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

“However, as long as the United States’ aggressive actions and illegal interventions, including its naval blockade and economic war, continue, it is impossible to guarantee the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” Baghaei added.
