There are currently many discussions on how best to support the Azerbaijani government, the country and its people in this important process toward peace, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Magdalena Grono told journalists during the diplomatic corps’ visit to Karabakh and East Zangezur, APA reports.

“Of course, the peace process is led by the parties, and we fully respect that. But we are fully ready to be a partner in supporting both governments and both countries in implementing very practical activities. Particularly in this region, I believe we have been an important partner in the field of demining. This work, of course, creates a favorable environment for people to be able to return safely to their homes,” Grono noted.

She said there are numerous challenges that need to be addressed across a wide range of issues.

“These also include issues related to the legacy created by the conflict. Of course, in any conflict situation, issues related to cultural and historical heritage are also an integral part of ensuring sustainable peace in the future,” the EU Special Representative said.
