“We are grateful to Azerbaijan for its contributions to our joint fight against global terrorism,” the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan stated, APA reports.
The statement said that today, the staff of the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan gathered to honor the memory of nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and their aftermath.
“Together, we remembered the victims of the attacks and their families, the first responders who courageously confronted unimaginable danger, as well as everyone whose life was forever changed after that tragic day.
We also recalled that following the attacks, many countries around the world, including Azerbaijan, demonstrated solidarity with the United States. U.S. and Azerbaijani servicemen served shoulder to shoulder as part of coalition forces in Afghanistan. We are grateful to Azerbaijan for its contributions to our joint fight against global terrorism.
Twenty-five years ago, terrorists attacked the United States with the aim of threatening the American way of life. Out of the darkness, the enduring truth of the American character shone for the entire world to see. The terrorists failed to achieve their goals — they could not break the spirit of our people,” the statement noted.
