Baku – APA. Egyptian authorities have charged an Egyptian businessman and two Israelis with spying for Israel and trying to recruit spies in Egypt, Syria and Lebanon, APA reports quoting “The Voice of America”.

State Security Prosecutor Hisham Badawi said Monday the businessman was arrested in August. Documents shown to reporters say the businessman allegedly had accepted thousands of dollars to search for potential spy recruits in telecommunications companies.

Badawi says authorities have charged the two Israelis in absentia.

Israel has not commented on the case.

During the last few months, Lebanon also has accused Israeli intelligence of trying to spy on Beirut and infiltrate its telecommunications networks.
