Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) will adopt a Statement on the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their historical homeland, APA reports.
The “Statement on the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their historical homeland of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was discussed during today’s meeting of Parliament.
Chairman of the Western Azerbaijan Community, member of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Aziz Alakbarli read the Statement.
The statement reads:
"Azerbaijani have lived in the territory of present-day Armenia for centuries. Historical documents and maps prove that the majority of the population living there consists of Azerbaijanis. Unfortunately, as a result of step-by-step ethnic cleansing, not a single Azerbaijani remained in Armenia. "20% of Azerbaijani lands were occupied after the complete cleansing of the territory of Armenia from Azerbaijanis."
