The final declaration of the 4th International Conference within the framework of the Baku Dialogue on the topic “Strengthening Trust and Developing Effective Mechanisms in Addressing the Issue of Missing Persons” has been adopted, APA reports.
The document reflects the outcomes of the discussions held at the conference and our common priorities — strengthening trust, expanding humanitarian cooperation, and developing effective mechanisms to clarify the fate of missing persons.
The draft Final Declaration calls on states to prevent persons from going missing, take measures to search for missing persons and clarify their fate, provide families with relevant information, and calls on international organizations, particularly the United Nations, to assist in establishing a mechanism specifically dealing with persons missing as a result of armed conflict.
It should be noted that the event program will continue with a visit to Karabakh on October 9 and 10.
This visit, which is part of the conference, will provide an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the humanitarian consequences of the conflict, the conditions in which searches are carried out, and the challenges posed by mines and unexploded ordnance. The program also includes visits to the Khojaly Memorial Complex, Shusha and Lachin, as well as an opportunity to familiarize participants with reconstruction work in the liberated territories.
