The Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC) has stated that what it describes as an unfounded campaign of uproar in Armenia over the recent visit of foreign diplomats to Azerbaijan's liberated territories shows no signs of subsiding, APA reports, citing a statement issued by the Community.
According to the statement, such reactions, which damage the peace and normalization process between the two countries, indicate that Armenian society still has serious reservations about completely abandoning the notorious "miatsum" policy, accepting Azerbaijan's sovereignty, and living in peaceful neighborliness. The Community claimed that the "Real Armenia" concept put forward by the Armenian authorities is effectively experiencing a serious crisis.
The statement noted that recent days have once again seen the resurgence in Armenian society of approaches based on what the Community described as fabricated history, false claims of ancient origins, and national exceptionalism.
The Community stated that denying the history and culture of the Azerbaijani people, who have a long history and rich cultural heritage, is a fundamentally wrong and dangerous policy.
As President Ilham Aliyev emphasized while receiving religious figures from several foreign countries on September 15, the Azerbaijani people have contributed great personalities and thinkers to world culture, including Nizami Ganjavi, Khagani Shirvani, Nasimi, Seyid Yahya Bakuvi, Shah Ismail Khatai, and Fuzuli.
According to the statement, it was precisely such ideology and approaches, which the Community described as toxic, that pushed Armenia toward the "miatsum" policy, particularly over the past 30 years, and paved the way for the deportation of Western Azerbaijanis from Armenia, the occupation of Azerbaijani territories, and the deliberate destruction of cultural heritage, including mosques.
"The consequences of this policy for the Armenian state and the Armenian people are clear to everyone," the statement said.
In its statement, the Western Azerbaijan Community called on Armenian society not to repeat the mistakes of the past, to end attempts to interfere in Azerbaijan's internal affairs, to fully accept the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to refrain from provocative actions that regularly cause justified dissatisfaction in Azerbaijan.
