The Western Azerbaijan Community has condemned Armenia's sharp reaction to the recent visit of representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan to Karabakh and East Zangezur, APA reports.
According to the Community's statement, this approach is regarded as disrespect for Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It was noted that at a time when Azerbaijan and Armenia are moving closer towards peace, such steps harm the peace process, weaken mutual trust and encourage revanchist forces.
The statement assessed Armenia's position as an attempt to interfere in Azerbaijan's internal affairs and a step aimed at reigniting irredentism.
The Community stressed that instead of making unfounded claims regarding Azerbaijan's sovereign territories and history, Armenian society should focus on the denial, distortion and destruction of the cultural and historical heritage created by the Azerbaijani people on the territory of Armenia. It was noted that this would contribute to the establishment of lasting peace between the two countries and peoples.
