Six matches were played on the first round of the competition which consists of two groups made up from 12 teams overall. All matches of the first round were won with a high score.
Hungary and the Netherlands, the two favorites, outdid their rivals. The latter achieved a more glorious result – a 29-1 victory over Israel. The Hungarians defeated the Germans in a 21-4 win. Greece, on the last match of Group A, defeated the UK with a score of 20-2.
On the first match of Group B, Spain took on Serbia. The Pyreneans outscored their opponents by 13 goals. The Italian national team gave no chance to France – 22-5. The Russia-Slovakia encounter resulted in the least number of goals. Russia won the match in a 13-4 victory.
Note that, the Azerbaijani team is not represented at women’s competition.
