Capralos spoke about the organizing at the press conference held today: “I thank Minister Azad Rahimov, voluntaries. We saw organizing better than we were promised. Their success is also related to innovations. We also held competitions on Paralympics type. Olympic classifications were held in 12 of 16 sport types. Of course, sport was in the centre of the games. We tried to demonstrate to the people that the Game was held irascibly for Azerbaijani people. American record was renewed in one of the types. It was so interesting to watch these competitions. At the same time, we watched competitions in new types of sport. It was interesting for sponsors too. Beautiful opening ceremony was held. I believe that the closing ceremony will also be perfect. Several issues in the European Games may also be applied in the Olympic Games. 42 of 50 countries won medals. This is important in terms of development of the sport. May be, some sportsmen will not participate in the Olympic Games. However, they participated in the European Games. Currently, we are analyzing these games. We’ll take certain lessons from this organizing and apply in the Olympic Games in the future”.
According to him, Azerbaijan needs sports facilities constructed for the European Games: “Great tournaments will be held in the country in the future. Competitions on chess, judo, Euro-2020 games will be held in Azerbaijan. These are investments for country’s youths”.
