Baku – APA. “Organization, hospitality, volunteers’ work were very nice. I attended various competitions in various places. I didn’t hear any complaint here. Athletes especially like the Athletes Village. Azerbaijan left pleasant memories in my heart,” Patrick Hickey, the president of the European Olympic Committee, said at today’s press conference, Apasport.az reports.
He expressed satisfaction with the organization: “These games will be a great experience for future candidates. There are 6 candidate countries for the second European Games. We visited the Netherlands and reviewed the facilities. However, it failed due to the political decision. We want to keep the geographical balance. We are conducting negotiations with 5 candidates. Two of them want to host the Games in 2023. We are negotiating with 3 countries in connection with 2019 European Games. I think that the games will continue at a high level from now on.”
Hickey highly-assessed the accreditation of more than 900 foreign journalists: “It is excellent. We appreciate the work of the media outlets.”
He said that Azerbaijan is ready for Summer Olympic Games: “I believe in it. There are various venues. The organization of the European Games encouraged some countries in this regard.”
