Baku – APA. A round table on Baku-2015 was held on Saturday at the request of the foreign journalists at the Operation Committee of the first European Games. APA reports quoting AzerTAc that the Head of Public Political Department of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov, Minister of Youth and Sports and Chief Executive Director of the Operating Committee of the European Games Azad Rahimov answered the questions of the foreign journalists at the round table.
The presidential aide said a lot of modern sports infrastructure has been created in Azerbaijan, adding that this infrastructure allows the country to host the world’s biggest sports contests, including the Olympics.
“Therefore, what Azerbaijan aims about this matter is no less than that of bigger countries. A state’s power is not measured with the size of its territory of the number of its population but its economic-social potential and national will. Azerbaijan is a tolerant sports country. Azerbaijan is a country that has built the norms of civil society. These all allow Azerbaijan to host the world’s biggest sports events in future.
Rahimov in turn noted that the venues constructed for the games will contribute to the development of sports in our country. The venues constructed for the European Games or those reconstructed have been given positive assessment by international sports organizations. There have been a number of proposals of holding international or European sports events in our country. Apart from Baku, Rahimov said, there is also modern infrastructure in regions of Azerbaijan as well.
