Azerbaijan wins 10th medal in Beijing Paralympic Games

Baku. Agshin Aliyev - APA-Sport. Azerbaijanâ€™s national team has won one more medal in the 13th Beijing Summer Paralympic Games. APA-Sport reports that athlete Vugar Mehdiyev won bronze medal in 200m race.

26-year-old sportsman reached the finish in 22 seconds. He was left behind by Jason Smith (Ireland) and Aleksey Labzin (Russia) and came third.

Azerbaijanâ€™s national team has 2 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals and ranks the 37th.

18 Azerbaijani sportsmen participate in Beijing Paralympic Games. The achievements in Beijing are considered record for our national team. 11 Azeri sportsmen with physical disabilities participated in the Paralympic Games in Athens four years ago. They won 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal. The national team was the 45th among 135 countries.
