Georgia's Roads Department under the Ministry of Infrastructure has announced an international tender for the replacement of the highways connecting the country with Azerbaijan and Armenia with new four-lane roads, APA's local bureau reports.
The project, with a total value of 250 million euros, will be financed through a loan from the European Investment Bank.
The new highways will begin in the city of Rustavi and will be built in the directions of the Red Bridge and Sadakhlo. The announced tender envisages the construction of 61.3 kilometers of four-lane roads.
At present, the highways connecting Georgia with Azerbaijan and Armenia are two-lane roads and mainly pass through densely populated areas. The new roads will have higher traffic capacity and will bypass densely populated areas.
Companies may submit their bids for the tender lots until August 14 this year.
