"We have recently been developing a separate area within multilateral diplomacy aimed at supporting Azerbaijani citizens in being elected to elected bodies of international organizations and securing employment in their secretariat bodies," Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev said in an interview with the APA.
The deputy minister said there are generally two directions for increasing the representation of Azerbaijanis in international organizations.
"One is representation in elected bodies. That is, our citizens or state institutions nominate their employees as candidates, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our diplomatic missions carry out extensive work to help those candidates gain support. The second is employment in secretariat bodies. In this case, a candidate applies for a position and enters a highly competitive recruitment process. At times, state support is needed for certain positions. We have a major project that we plan to implement in the future in this regard. It aims to raise awareness among our citizens about the recruitment process in general. We are working on a project focused on this awareness-raising process. It will introduce a significant innovation and give citizens confidence that the state will support them in this area as well," he added.
