The Republic of Nauru has decided to sever diplomatic relations with Georgia's occupied regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as of July 21, Georgia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a statement, APA's local bureau reports.
The MFA welcomed the decision and expressed Georgia's readiness to establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Nauru and to intensify cooperation based on shared interests.
Recall that Nauru recognized the "independence" of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in December 2009. Official Tbilisi condemned the decision at the time, accusing Nauru of disregarding the norms of international law.
