Nearly 800 foreigners were deported from Azerbaijan during the reporting period, stated Vusal Huseynov, Chief of the State Migration Service, speaking during a media tour on the topic of "Media Awareness in the Field of Migration," APA reports.

He said that 9,757 administrative decisions were issued as part of measures taken to combat illegal migration during the reporting period.

"These decisions mainly concern individuals identified by the State Migration Service or detected through electronic information systems whose legal status was subsequently regulated.

"At the same time, administrative decisions on expulsion from the country, that is, deportation, were issued against nearly 800 foreigners. Deportation decisions are not imposed for the same period in every case. Depending on the nature and severity of the violation committed by the individual, entry into Azerbaijan may be banned for one year, two years, five years, or other periods prescribed by law," he said.

The head of the Service also noted that during the reporting period, four cases related to the organization of illegal migration and other migration-related unlawful acts were referred to the relevant law enforcement authorities.

"These cases mainly involved bringing individuals to Azerbaijan for the purpose of illegally transporting them to third countries, luring them to the country through deception and various promises, involving them in illegal migration schemes in exchange for financial gain, and thereby creating conditions for them to fall into an illegal status. As these acts contain elements of criminal offences, the materials were submitted to the relevant law enforcement agencies for legal assessment," he said.
