US President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran will continue, but the recent attack on US bases in Jordan will not go unanswered, APA reports.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said the United States will "let them talk for now".
The US president stated that Iran's overnight attack on Jordan came as a surprise and that US forces had only a few minutes to intercept the Iranian missiles.
He said the United States would retaliate against Iran for the unexpected attack.
"We will be hitting them hard. They're going to get a beating," Trump said.
Trump also said the United States is considering action against Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq.
"Iran-backed militias in Iraq are a cancer on the world. I am considering additional warnings against Iranian proxies," he added.
