A magnitude 5.4 aftershock has struck Kumamoto Prefecture on Japan's Kyushu Island, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said, APA reports.
According to the report, the earthquake's epicenter was located 55 kilometers south of the city of Kumamoto, which has a population of more than 680,000. The tremor occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.
No casualties or damage have been reported.
Earlier, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Japan. It is considered one of the strongest earthquakes recorded in the country in recent years.
