"While illegal migration has created serious social and security problems in a number of countries, the situation in Azerbaijan remains under control," Vusal Huseynov, Chief of the State Migration Service, said during a media tour on the topic of "Media Awareness in the Field of Migration," APA reports.
"There are currently around 210,000 to 220,000 foreign nationals living in the country. This figure may vary depending on the season. For example, during the summer months, the number of foreigners in the country increases due to the rise in tourist arrivals. Against this overall figure, the number of people residing illegally is relatively small and is assessed as being at a manageable level," he said.
