Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told US President Donald Trump during their meeting that Israel would not launch strikes against Iran on its own initiative without a request from Washington, the Associated Press reports.
According to the report, Netanyahu told Trump that if Iran attacks Israel, the Jewish state reserves the right to retaliate.
The prime minister also said that Israel would continue sharing new intelligence on Iran with the United States.
Netanyahu stated that he understands Washington has to take into account the positions of its Arab allies in the Middle East when shaping its policy toward Iran. He stressed that Israel fully trusts the United States on the Iran issue and will support any decision made by President Donald Trump.
It should be noted that before the meeting between Netanyahu and Trump, Al-Monitor, citing sources, reported that the Israeli prime minister intended to present the US president with a plan for new strikes against Iran. According to the report, potential targets included Iran's industrial facilities, bridges and railway infrastructure.
