Baku. Ramil Mammedli - APA. In Azerbaijan will further tighten quality requirements for cars and buses used in passenger transportation, said Musa Panahov, Deputy Minister of Transport.
He added that the issue of imposing a ban on the use of old vehicles in passenger transport remains topical in the country.
“Steps are being taken to ensure vehicles meeting the standards are used for transporting passengers. In addition, environmental issues are being taken into account. I think that we will take steps to further tighten the requirements in 2009,” he added.
The Deputy Minister also said that steps will be taken in connection with taxis.
“The requirements would mostly apply to old cars. More precisely, old cars which might harm the environment will not be allowed for passenger carrying,” he noted.
