Piriyev said that the ministry does not comment on such type of empty talks and they do not require any serious response.
“We can only say that former head’s empty talks are only methods to politicize his crimes, divert the attention of public from his acts. These methods unmask himself. Because as he mentioned at the trial, he personally made decisions to allocate irrevocable credits. In this case, the limits set by the Supervisory Board were roughly violated. In many cases, the loans have been transferred to his offshore companies abroad or appropriated”, the statement said.
The ministry’s official noted that from October 2009 to March 2015, totally AZN 1.3 billion, $ 1.4 billion and € 300 million of loans, which exceed AZN 1.5 million-limit, have been allocated to individuals and legal entities and all of these loans have been included in the category of irrevocable credits: “At the same time, $3.7 billion and €1.1 billion have been withdrawn from the country under the instruction of bank’s former head. These funds have thereafter been transferred to the projects, of which Jahangir Hajiyev was beneficiary or one of beneficiaries. Most of these loans are still remaining unpaid”.
As for loans given through confirmation of the Supervisory Board, Piriyev said number of such loans makes 7, total amount $250 milion and AZN 2641 million and all of these loans have been paid.
