For 2026, expenditures totaling 1.3 billion manats are projected for measures related to climate change in the agriculture and environmental protection sectors, APA-Economics reports, citing the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan.
It was noted that with the support of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan began developing and implementing climate monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems in 2024–2025. These systems will enable climate-related data in the country to be tracked in line with international standards.
It was also stated that Azerbaijan’s mitigation measures in the fight against climate change serve both to strengthen national energy security and to fulfill international climate commitments. As a result of these measures, the country’s development based on a “green growth” model will accelerate, ensuring long-term sustainable economic transformation.
