Azerbaijan spends AZN 524.2 mln on public debt servicing in Q1 2026

According to operational data, in the first quarter of this year, 132.5 million manats were paid on domestic debt (interest payments), and 391.7 million manats on external debt (269.5 million manats on principal and 122.2 million manats on interest), bringing the total amount paid for servicing public debt under the state budget to 524.2 million manats, APA reports citing the Ministry of Finance.

According to the information, taking into account operational data on the use of funds under projects financed through external borrowing and principal repayments on external public debt, the level of external public debt as of April 1, 2026, amounted to 4,689.3 million U.S. dollars. Based on operational data, as of April 1, 2026, external public debt accounted for 6.1% of the projected GDP for the current year.

According to operational data, the level of domestic public debt as of April 1, 2026, amounted to 16,492.9 million manats, accounting for 12.6% of the projected GDP for the current year.
