Azerbaijan names economic sectors for mutual investment with Israel

130 commercial entities are operating in Azerbaijan with Israeli investments, said Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, at the Azerbaijan-Israel business forum, APA-Economics reports.

He noted that the total volume of investments between the two countries amounts to approximately $600 million:

“Our countries have built a strong and pragmatic partnership that covers broad areas and delivers real results. A clear example of this is the strategic cooperation agreement signed and being implemented between the Azerbaijan Investment Company (currently operating as the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund) and Israel’s OurCrowd. Within this framework, Azerbaijan is holding investment talks aimed at expanding technology and business ties, focusing on the energy, healthcare, cybersecurity, agro-food, and education technology sectors.

Of course, the energy sector is an important area of our cooperation. Azerbaijan is not only a supplier in Israel’s energy sector, but also a key investor. SOCAR, together with BP and other partners, has obtained licenses for gas exploration in Israel’s exclusive economic zone and is the operator at the exploration stage. On December 27, 2025, the parties signed a joint development agreement, and seismic and preparatory works for drilling are being carried out on a full scale.”

M. Jabbarov said that acquiring a 10% stake in the Tamar gas field demonstrates that the partnership has been strengthened.

“The pharmaceutical sector is also one of the areas in which Israeli companies are implementing projects in Azerbaijan. Efforts are ongoing to expand activities in the field of water resource management and the use of alternative water sources. At the same time, negotiations are underway to increase the efficient reuse of water within agricultural production initiatives.”

The minister added that the Israel–Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry operates as an effective platform for promoting business ties and investments between Azerbaijan and Israel.
