Azerbaijan discusses World Bank cooperation, infrastructure and urban development projects

On January 26, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Finance, Sahil Babayev, met with a delegation led by Charles Cormier, the World Bank’s Regional Director for Infrastructure in Europe and Central Asia, and also represented by Ms. Roland Pryce, the Regional Director for the South Caucasus, APA-Economics.

During the meeting, the current state of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank and prospects for its development were discussed, as well as projects being implemented with the Bank’s financial support, particularly current and future programs in the fields of infrastructure, urban development, energy, and digital sectors.

The meeting also included a detailed exchange of views on the projects “Expansion of the Baku International Sea Trade Port,” “Competitive, Resilient Agriculture and Irrigation Services" (CRAIS), and “Livable Baku,” which are planned to be financed through World Bank loan funds. Institutional, technical, and financial measures that will create the conditions for the implementation of the mentioned projects, as well as opportunities to expand cooperation between the parties, were also considered.
