The Azerbaijani government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have discussed the country's medium-term fiscal policy, macroeconomic outlook, and the agenda for the upcoming Article IV consultations, APA-Economics reports.
These issues were the focus of a meeting between First Deputy Minister of Finance Anar Karimov and an IMF delegation led by the Fund's Mission Chief for Azerbaijan, Anna Bordon.
The meeting included an exchange of views on economic developments in Azerbaijan, fiscal policy, the medium-term economic outlook, as well as the priority areas of the IMF's future technical assistance to the country.
According to Anar Karimov, the government's main priorities are expanding the state's budget financing opportunities through non-oil revenues, gradually reducing transfers from the State Oil Fund, and further strengthening fiscal sustainability.
IMF Mission Chief for Azerbaijan Anna Bordon stated that the Fund is ready to continue its cooperation with Azerbaijan in the areas of public financial management, fiscal policy, and strengthening institutional capacity.
