ADB: Expanding electric transport could bring Azerbaijan $18 mln annually

Azerbaijan has the potential to generate up to $18 million in annual revenue from the international carbon market by expanding electric transport, APA-Economics reports, citing the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

According to the information, as a pilot project within the framework of COP29, 160 electric buses were brought to Baku and put into operation on the city's bus routes. In addition, the country plans to deploy 3,000 electric buses.

According to ADB estimates, a project covering only 3,000 electric city buses could prevent approximately 153,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually and generate $4-5 million in annual revenue through the sale of carbon credits.
