Development of official statistics system discussed between Azerbaijan and World Bank

A meeting was held between Chairman of the State Statistical Committee Azer Mursaguliyev and a delegation led by World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Rolande Pryce, APA-Economics reports, citing the Committee.

Issues related to the development of the official statistics system, improvement of the legal and institutional framework, modernization of the system of national accounts and enhancement of the quality of statistical data were discussed during the meeting.

The parties exchanged views on the modernization of data collection, production and dissemination processes, expansion of the use of administrative data sources, development of information technology infrastructure and implementation of international statistical standards.

The World Bank expressed its readiness to support the State Statistical Committee in this direction. The meeting also discussed issues related to increasing data accessibility, the role of statistical data in decision-making processes and the long-term development priorities of the statistical system.

At the end of the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of applying modern approaches in statistical processes and future cooperation in this direction.
