Baku. Ulkar Gasimova – APA. “Unfortunately proposals submitted to the contest announced for establishment of Independence Museum in Azerbaijan don’t satisfy us and special jury. No one of those projects was suitable for the Independence Museum and monument. We prolonged the contest for two times, but it has not yet brought results”, Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev told APA.

The minister said works describing tragic days of Azerbaijan’s history would also be exhibited at the Independence Museum. “Today we are saving those works in the different funds. I think they have to be saved in different collections that to reach different audiences. If we collect all Azerbaijani carpets from the world and bring them to the country, who will see them? We need these carpets displayed everywhere that the world community knows that they belong to Azerbaijan. The works dedicated to the January 20 tragedy should be saved in Salyan, Nakhchivan, Ganja, Lankaran because when the people visit the art galleries and museums they should learn what tragedy they experienced. It is necessary to do that not only in Azerbaijan, but abroad as well”.

The minister of culture and tourism said recently a work of German artist dedicated to the January 20 tragedy was bought. “The German artist learned the history of Karabakh when he was in our country and created a great work. The museum has already bought the work dedicated to Karabakh. Such works should be displayed in the exhibitions held in the different countries”.
