Azerbaijan State Theater Museum celebrates 75th anniversary â€“ <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION </font>

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova â€“ APA. A solemn ceremony dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Azerbaijanâ€™s Jafar Jabbarli State Theater Museum was held at the Museum Center on December 16. The preliminary versions of the museumâ€™s website and book were presented at the anniversary event, APA reports.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev reviewed the history of Theater Museum: â€œAzerbaijanâ€™s Jafar Jabbarli State Theater Museum was established in 1934. This was only museum of this profile in the East and South Caucasus. Deputy Director of the Baku Theater Vocational School, member of the Baku Turkic Worker Theater Aghakerim Sharifov made great contribution to the founding of this museum. He collected materials about the history of theater beginning from 1920 and met with the director of Moscow Theater Vocational School Bakhrushin in 1926 when he visited Moscow together with his students and used his advices in this field. Azerbaijani outstanding intellectuals and theater figures, including Aziz Sharif, Jafar Jabbarli, Azim Azimzadeh, Sidgi Ruhulla supported him in realization of his idea to establish the theater museum. First exhibition of the museum displaying Sidgi Ruhullaâ€™s personal archive was organized at the hall of Drama Theater located at the former Tagiyev Theater in November, 1927. The museum was a unit of theater in 1928-1934 and received the status of state museum in 1934. The Azerbaijan State Theater Museum was opened on November 25, 1934 and it was named after Azerbaijani famous writer and dramatist Jafar Jabbarli in 1935â€.

The minister said the museum was established in the most difficult period of Azerbaijani people. â€œIn that time, theater wad formed under the Soviet totalitarian regime and faced with great pressures and ideological influences. Theater has a great history and it was an important duty to save it for the future generationsâ€.

Chairwoman of the Independent Trade Union Committee Jamila Sattarova, chairman of the Union of Theater Figures Azer Pasha Nemat, director of the Azerbaijanâ€™s Nizami National Literature Museum Rafael Huseynov, chairman of the Union of Artists Farhad Khalilov also addressed the ceremony and spoke about the 75-year history of the Theater Museum. The anniversary event was developed with the concert program.
