On the scope of the implementation of two-year Popular Computer Project by Azerbaijan Communications and Information Technologies Minister, the number of computers per 100 people will reach 20 to 25 in Azerbaijan. At present there are 3 computers per 100 people in the country.
The Ministry Officer Rufat Gulmammadov told APA-Economics that the working group set up together with Microsoft and Intel will prepare a package of proposals and submit to the Government.
He said that the ministry intends to coordinate joint activities of local executive bodies, training centers, Internet cafes and NGOs in order to improve disadvantaged people’s computer knowledge and access to the Net.
If we want to create e-government, we should increase poor people’s knowledge. The Popular Computer Project is aimed at offering state-of-the-art commuters to poor families on credit for three years and at a low interest rate, he said. /APA-Economics/
