On June 17, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received a delegation led by Chung Eui-hae, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan-Korea relations, as well as political dialogue, economy, trade, investments, digital development, education, transport, energy security and other issues of mutual interest.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics in relations between the two countries. He emphasized that Azerbaijan's large-scale infrastructure projects, as well as the country's role in major regional transport and logistics routes connecting Europe and Asia, create new opportunities for international cooperation. In this context, information was provided on the importance of the Middle Corridor and efforts aimed at expanding transit and connectivity opportunities.

The parties also discussed cooperation within multilateral platforms. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which will be held this year under Azerbaijan's chairmanship, contributes to joint efforts aimed at strengthening dialogue and confidence.

The parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in the fields of digital transformation, innovation and high technologies, emphasizing the importance of exchanging experience and implementing joint projects in these areas. Prospects for cooperation in education, academic exchange programs and initiatives aimed at developing human capital were also reviewed. It was noted that the Baku State Vocational Education Center for Industry and Innovations, established based on Korean educational standards, as well as dual degree programs between universities, are among the important areas of growing cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, views were also exchanged on cooperation in the energy sector, particularly energy security, the development of renewable energy sources and projects being implemented in the field of green transition.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the Korean side about Azerbaijan's recent decision to introduce a visa-free regime for holders of all types of passports of the Republic of Korea. The parties emphasized that such a step would make a significant contribution to expanding cooperation in tourism and other fields, as well as increasing contacts between the peoples of the two countries.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided detailed information on the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, efforts to advance the peace agenda, and the current situation regarding the establishment of lasting peace and stability in the region.

In addition, the parties noted the significance of the historic summit held in Washington in terms of promoting regional cooperation and stressed that the outcomes achieved within the framework of the summit have created new opportunities.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other regional and international issues of mutual interest.

On the same day, the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Korea was held. The delegations were headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov from the Azerbaijani side and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-hae from the Korean side.
