Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev has met with a delegation led by Yousef Aldobeay, Assistant Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.
The Prosecutor General stated that independent Azerbaijan has always made significant contributions to the activities of the OIC, which is committed to strengthening Islamic solidarity and supporting cooperation among Islamic countries in science, culture, social affairs, economics and other fields.
He emphasized that the OIC has consistently supported Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
It was noted that Azerbaijan takes a firm stance in discussions on issues facing the Islamic world within the OIC framework, actively participates in the adoption of decisions and resolutions, and demonstrates initiative in fulfilling the organization's objectives.
As one of the OIC’s active members, Azerbaijan also maintains close cooperation with various OIC institutions, including the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the Islamic Development Bank, the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum.
Kamran Aliyev also provided information on preparations for the Third High-Level Meeting of Heads of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies of OIC member states, which will be held in Baku on October 27–28.
Yousef Aldobeay conveyed the greetings of OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha and noted that Azerbaijan stands out among OIC member states for its active role and significant contributions to Muslim unity and Islamic solidarity.
He stressed that Azerbaijan is recognized as one of the most active, influential and initiative-driven members of the organization. According to him, the initiatives put forward by Azerbaijan and its efforts to promote the OIC’s goals and principles are highly appreciated by member states.
It was also noted that the OIC consistently supported Azerbaijan’s legitimate position during Armenia’s aggression and the former conflict period, as well as the country's efforts to restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Assistant Secretary-General stated that the OIC stood by Azerbaijan during and after the Patriotic War and is following the reconstruction and restoration process in the liberated territories with great interest. He highly praised Azerbaijan’s efforts to strengthen peace, security and cooperation in the region.
Aldobeay added that the OIC regards Azerbaijan as a reliable partner and one of the leading member states in promoting Islamic solidarity. He noted that the organization's appreciation for Azerbaijan’s continued support is matched by its interest in further expanding cooperation with the country.
It was particularly emphasized that Azerbaijan will host the 16th Islamic Summit of the OIC in 2027.
The Assistant Secretary-General expressed confidence that the summit, to be hosted by Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, will become one of the most important events in the history of the organization, contributing significantly to stronger solidarity among member states, enhanced cooperation and discussions on key issues facing the Islamic world.
