The European Parliament has adopted a critical report on Georgia, APA's local bureau reports.
The document, prepared by the European Parliament's rapporteur for Georgia, Rasa Juknevičienė, was supported by 436 lawmakers, while 145 voted against it.
The report states that the European Parliament expresses its full solidarity with the Georgian people who continue their struggle for a European and democratic Georgia.
The document notes that the ruling Georgian Dream party has not only halted Georgia's European integration course but has effectively reversed it. It also emphasizes the need to impose individual sanctions on the party's honorary chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili, as well as a number of officials, judges and prosecutors.
It should be noted that the report was endorsed by 53 votes in the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs on May 5.
Georgia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the document deliberately distorts facts and contains absurd accusations.
