Belarusian Vladislav Andreyev and Georgian Vladimir Khinchegashvili, competing in the 57kg weight category, fought each other during the semifinals of the wrestling competition as part of the European Games in Baku. While Andreyev was 2-1 in front, his opponent slapped him in his face. Then the wrestlers engaged in a brawl as the Belarusian athlete returned the slap. The referee immediately intervened and departed them.
As a result, the encounter was halted and both athletes were taken away from the carpet.
After the referees’ decision, they were disqualified and the two other wrestlers – Marcel Evatla (Germany) and Islam Islamay (Albania) – whom they have defeated in the 1/4 finals will replace them in the semi-finals.
The winner of that encounter will take on Russian Lebedev in the final.
